What Can I Do With Beef Bone Broth?

Bone broth tastes great on its own as a warm drink. But, you can also:

  • Cook it with veggies, rice, soups, and beef stews

  • Braise beef in bone broth

  • Make homemade sauces

  • Add it to casseroles

It’s all in the Bones

When making homemade bone broth, we recommend using bones from pasture-raised, grass fed animals. Grass fed beef is rich in nutrients and very flavourful. At Gemstone Grass Fed Beef, we raise our cattle on a variety of nutrient dense grass and other forage making our beef….and bones the perfect choice.

Bone Broth Tips & Tricks

  • Roast the Bones
Place beef bones in the oven to roast 15-20 minutes at 375°.  Roasting the bones helps to lock in flavour (and it makes the kitchen smell good too!).

  • Maintain Water Levels
The perfect water level should be just enough to cover the bones. This makes broth gelatinous and tasty. Overwatering bones will cause broth to become runny and greasy.

  • Make Your Broth Flavourful
Bone broth tastes best with 1 tbsp of raw apple cider vinegar. This helps to pull nutrients directly from the bones. Spice it up by adding your favourite veggies and fresh herbs.

  • Slow Cook Your Beef Bone Broth
Cook broth on low for at least 48 hours. When finished, cool broth fast by pouring it into a bowl filled with ice. This is an essential step. Leaving bone broth sitting out makes it susceptible to bacteria.

  • Store Bone Broth in a Glass Canister
Keep your delicious bone broth fresh. We recommend storing broth in glass Tupperware or a large mason jar.
